The websites www.etic.pt and https://www.epi.edu.pt are managed by ETIC – Escola Técnica de Imagem e Comunicação Aplicada LDA, legal entity no. 502581042, with registered office at R. D. Luís I, no. 6, 1200-151 Lisbon. ETIC is responsible for the processing of personal data collected through these websites, following its submission by the data subject in the relevant fields.
All content available on www.etic.pt and https://www.epi.edu.pt is intended to provide institutional information and promote ETIC/EPI projects and activities, particularly for prospective students wishing to enrol, current students, parents and guardians, teachers and other parties interested in the schools’ activities.
ETIC/EPI’s Privacy Policy aims to ensure that prospective students, current students, parents and guardians, teachers and other parties interested in the schools’ activities that the collection and processing of personal data through the websites is carried out in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (“GDPR”) and other applicable national legislation.
Trust in the security, confidentiality and privacy of the process of collecting and processing the personal data of prospective students, current students, parents and guardians, teachers, employees and other parties interested in the schools’ activities is our main priority. We therefore adopt technical and organisational measures to ensure the lawfulness, fairness, transparency, accuracy and updating of data, as well as data security and the limitation of processing to specific purposes.
We protect your personal data as part of our processing activities
ETIC/EPI’s Privacy Policy aims to ensure the protection of all information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person (“data subject”), through reference to an identifier such as their name, identification number, geographical location data, electronic identifiers, or specific elements relating to their genetic, cultural, physical, social, physiological, mental or economic identity, within the scope of the processing activities carried out on such data by our services.
Such processing includes all operations involving the recording, organisation, structuring, storage, adaptation or alteration, retrieval, consultation, use, disclosure by transmission, dissemination or any other form of making available, comparison or interconnection, restriction, erasure or destruction of data.
We restrict access to your personal data
Access to and processing of personal data electronically will be carried out by our management, administrative services, course coordinators, teaching staff and service providers solely in the performance of their duties, subject to a general duty of confidentiality. This will be complemented by a duty of professional secrecy where the data collected and processed relates to health or other sensitive information, such as genetic, biometric, cultural or religious data, and only to the extent strictly necessary.
We process your data for specific purposes
All data is processed appropriately for the purposes of applications, enrolment, registration and attendance of courses and school activities, or for archiving purposes in the public interest, scientific or historical research, or statistical purposes, where legally required, in accordance with the information provided directly to the data subject. We ensure that, by default, only the personal data necessary for each specific processing purpose is processed.
We retain your personal data for specified periods
The data collected will only be retained for the period strictly necessary for the application, enrolment and/or attendance phase of the student. Following this period, data will only be retained for as long as any limitation and/or expiry period applicable to any rights arising from a contract has not elapsed, or for the period required under any other legal provision to which ETIC/EPI is subject, particularly in relation to the Ministry of Education. If none of the above circumstances apply, we will proceed with the destruction or anonymisation of your data.
We limit the transmission of your data
ETIC/EPI will only transfer your data to the Ministry of Education and other official bodies to which it has legal obligations, or, with the consent of the data subject, to other educational service companies within the group for the purposes of institutional communication and promotion of the group’s educational offer and services.
We guarantee your rights
ETIC/EPI ensures that, at any time, you may quickly and free of charge access the data concerning you, request its rectification, erasure or restriction of processing, object to its processing, or request its transfer to other data controllers by contacting privacidade@etic.pt.
Where you have given consent for the collection and processing of data that is not essential for the assessment of applications and/or the performance of contracts entered into with ETIC/EPI, you may withdraw your consent at any time, unless retaining the data is necessary to comply with a legal obligation or for the establishment, exercise or defence of a legal claim in judicial proceedings.
If you identify any breach concerning the protection of your personal data, you may lodge a complaint with the national supervisory authority, the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD), in person at Rua de São Bento, no. 148, 3rd floor, 1220-181 Lisbon, by telephone on 213 928 400, by fax on 213 976 832, or by email at geral@cnpd.pt.
