Opening freelance activity is no drama: workshop at ETIC
At ETIC, preparing students for the job market takes many forms. For about three years, the school — with the support of coordinator and teacher Rafaela Ribas and pedagogical manager André Prista — has been promoting the workshop “I opened freelance activity, now what?”, a practical session designed to clarify the many questions faced by those starting to work independently in the creative industries.
During the two-hour session, participants receive a clear and straightforward explanation of key topics for anyone beginning their professional activity. The workshop features tax lawyer Gonçalo Gaia, from PRA & Associados, who addresses topics such as:
- How to open a freelance activity with the Portuguese Tax Authority;
- How to issue and fill out a “recibo verde” (freelance invoice);
- Tax obligations, rights and Social Security contributions;
- What is covered by the Cultural Worker Statute.
The goal is simple: to give students practical tools so they can enter the job market with greater confidence and knowledge.
This year, the session is scheduled for May 12 at 11:00 AM, at Atmosferas. In a sector where freelance work is increasingly common, initiatives like this help turn uncertainty into knowledge.
